VIII Baltic Heart Failure & XV Arrhythmias meeting

Registration

Dear colleagues, dear friends!

On behalf of the Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian Societies of Cardiology we are delighted to invite you to the VIII Baltic Heart Failure and XV Arrhythmias meeting to be held in Riga on November 7-8, 2024.

Heart failure is one of the major global public health challenges. Its prevalence has substantially increased over the past decades due to ageing of the population, progress in the evidence-based therapies prolonging life in patients with heart failure and a growing prevalence of risk factors inherent to the modern lifestyle, including type 2 diabetes, obesity, physical inactivity and smoking. Advances in the management of heart failure have improved prognosis, but have also contributed to the increased burden of the disease. This year we are going to focus on heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) which is characterised by a wide heterogenity in clinical presentation and associated comorbidities. Heart failure patients are predisposed to develop arrhythmias that can exacerbate the heart failure symptoms by decreasing the effective cardiac output and their control require pharmacological, electrical or catheter-based intervention.

The VIII Baltic Heart Failure and XV Arrhythmias meeting gives us the possibility to bring together cardiologists, internists, nephrologists, endocrinologists, general practitioners, imaging specialists, electrophysiologists, cardiac surgeons and nurses  interested in heart failure, to introduce the latest scientific achievements, to share knowledge learned through practice and establish contacts with colleagues from neighbouring countries. We are inviting leading experts from Baltic countries and Heart Failure Association (HFA) to cover wide range of topics, including multidisciplinary approach in HFpEF diagnostic, specific cardiomyopathies, medical and interventional treatment of heart failure and arrhythmias.

We warmly invite you to come and participate in the meeting. We hope to provide you new insights in heart failure and arrhythmias, scientific discoveries and present a forum for discussions.

We are looking forward to see you in Riga!
